Overview of Arlington’s MCC Program - by Tom Brewer
Overview of Arlington’s MCC Program
Did you know that Arlington has a fantastic program to help promote local home ownership for residents? Well the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) Program, sponsored by the Arlington Housing Finance Corporation is one of several resources available to residents wishing to achieve the American dream of home ownership.
Under the MCC program guidelines, eligible residents can write off up to $2,000 from their taxes as a tax credit. The eligibility requirements for individuals to qualify for the program are as follows, the home buyer must:
• Qualify for a mortgage
• Apply for the MCC through a participating lending agency
• Buy a home in the City of Arlington, Texas
• Live in the home as their primary residence
• Not have an income that exceeds the maximum allowed under the program
• Not buy a home that the price exceeds the maximum allowed under the program
• Not owned a home in the past 3 years unless it is in a Target Area or they are a Qualified Veteran
• Participate in a HUD approved home ownership counseling course
The goal of the program is to provide incentive for people to buy a home in Arlington. This is, of course only one of the many programs available to current or soon to be Arlington residents. Please go to Arlington Texas Real Estate for more information.
