Arlington, Texas Housing Rehabilitation Program Emergency Repair Grant
The Arlington, Texas Emergency Repair Grant for home owners helps low income homeowners by providing them with a grant of up to $5,000 so that they can make emergency repairs to their homes. In this case, an emergency is defined as a situation or condition that popped up unexpectedly and within a two week period of applying for assistance which is a threat to life, health or safety and something that must be addressed immediately in order to remedy.
In order to be eligible for the grant money, a home owner must not make more money that what exceeds the Housing and Urban Development's 'low income' category. The home owner also must reside in the home as their primary residence and the house cannot be for sale.
Some examples of repairs that could fall under this emergency money is furnace and/or air conditioning repairs, roofing problems, issues with plumbing or home wiring problems.
An application must be filled out and sent back to the city of Arlington and it should be noted that all information asked for must be provided. Applicants owning Arlington real estate are also required to show photo ID, income verification as well as proof of any and all assets.
Things the money cannot be used for include luxury items, wallpaper, extra flooring, jacuzzi or hot-tubs, patios, room add-ons, new fireplaces, window treatment or any repair that is covered by homeowners insurance.
This is yet another great resource for Arlington residents and provides a potential funding stream for certain repairs that homeowners may need to keep their homes in top condition.
