Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
Amazingly, this year all 50 states have had snowfall! According to the Houston Chronicle, Dallas broke the snow record set in 1962. Over 12 inches of snow have been dumped on the Dallas-Fort Worth area in a mere 24 hours. Schools, government offices and various businesses have had to call it a snow day.
This is great news for the kids but is wreaking havoc on small businesses with workers unable to report in to work due to either the weather or lack of childcare options. Arlington and Mansfield area homeowners that were caught unawares for the weather are quickly trying to get their homes winterized.
Rising utilities rates are becoming more of an issue now that homeowners are turning up their thermostats to combat the plummeting temperatures. See our previous articles regarding some great home winterization tips.
Arlington and Mansfield area residents need to also be careful of the treacherous conditions posed by icy roads and sidewalks as well as snow piles. The sheer number of residents that suffered from power outages is estimated to be over 200,000 homes and businesses without power according to Oncor Electric Delivery. They are still working on getting power restored to thousands of Arlington and Mansfield area residents.
