A home is definitely one of, if not the biggest investments people will make in their lives. With that in mind, preventing foreclosure on a home should be a main focus for Tarrant County homeowners that find themselves in trouble financially during the current economy.

A major financial setback could happen to anyone at any time, a loss of a job, an injury, a legal situation and any number of other issues could arise. The first thing homeowners should do is sit down to figure out their finances and decide what options they have to work with.

Tarrant County homeowners having financial difficulties should contact their mortgage company. A good lender is usually willing to work with homeowners to help keep them in their homes. Lenders will typically give the homeowner options like forbearance, a repayment plan, a loan modification or a reinstatement.

There are also a few agencies unique to Tarrant County that offer a wide variety of assistance to help them prevent foreclosure. The Tarrant County Housing Partnership is one such agency. Homeowners can contact their local city government or HUD office to find out information about other organizations that offer foreclosure prevention assistance.
